Pecan Fest at the Big Red Barn
October 24, 2026
Overview
Pecan Fest is our biggest day of the year and one of the reasons the classroom stays open. Every plate, every booth, every hayride helps fund the field trips and programs that teach kids where their food comes from.
What's happening
A full day of it, from the judging tent to the pull track.
Pecan Baking Contest
Pies, pralines, and everything in between — youth and adult divisions, judged Saturday.
Vendor Market
Handmade goods, antiques, woodcraft, fiber, and food — from makers who'll tell you how it's made.
Hayrides
A slow loop through the grounds — the best seat for seeing the whole place at once.
Square Dancing
Live calling and a floor open to anyone who wants to try. No experience needed.
Activities for Children
Games, crafts, and farm fun for the little ones all day long.
Youth Scarecrow Contest
Kids build 'em, judges pick the winners, and the scarecrows stand watch over the whole fest.
Food
Come hungry. There's plenty of it, and it goes fast.
Heritage Village, open with docents
The church, the schoolhouse, the log cabin, the filling station — with folks on hand to tell you their stories.
