City of Seguin Announces Bold Move to Transform Downtown
The City of Seguin is thrilled to announce a game-changing development for its downtown area with the acquisition of 101 East Nolte—the current Wells Fargo location. This landmark decision follows Wells Fargo’s recent announcement of its relocation to the 123 Bypass, putting their historic downtown branch on the market.
Seizing this rare opportunity, the City Council approved the purchase of this prime property and is partnering with renowned TBA Douglas Architects to create an exciting development plan.
“This is a visionary step forward for Seguin,” declared Mayor Donna Dodgen, “We are taking control of our downtown’s future and setting the stage for a transformation that will benefit generations to come. Our goal is to enrich our community with exceptional retail and dining options, and this is just the beginning. Let’s make our downtown a vibrant and thriving hub that will captivate both residents and visitors alike!”
This strategic move aligns with the City’s recently completed downtown master plan, which highlighted the need for more retail and dining experiences. By acquiring the property, the City is ensuring that this vision becomes a reality.
The City’s plan involves purchasing the property, crafting a forward-thinking vision for its development, and setting clear guidelines to foster this vision. The next step will be to issue a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to attract innovative developers, and then a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the top developers. The City Council will then select a developer based on these proposals, with the intent to negotiate the redevelopment of the property and kick-start an exciting new chapter for Seguin’s downtown.
